Representative questions that can be answered with this resource:

  • When, how and why did US Marines invade Los Angeles?
  • Where can I learn about the invasion of Mexico?
  • Was there a time when Congress did not reflexively support a war?

Description:

From the introduction to this 66 page paper:

This occasional paper is intended to be a summary of Marine Corps operations in the War with Mexico. The battles and landings and not treated in a strict chronological order. Instead the war has been divided into three parts: the conquest of California, operations in Lower California and off the western coast of Mexico, and the invasion of Mexico.
